Picture Scanning Information for Video Tribute
The image to the right shows a typical view presented by scanner software. The picture being scanned here is 6 by 4.5 inches. Most scanners will allow you to scan your picture at several different sizes. Typical settings are 75, 100, 150, 200, 300, 400 and 600 pixels per inch. Scanning this image at 150 pixels per inch (sometimes called dots per inch or dpi) would yield a picture that is 900 pixels wide and 675 pixels high (6" x 150 pixels / inch = 900 pixels.) This would be the minimum size that should be used. Scanning the image at 200 pixels per inch would produce a picture that is 1200 pixels by 900 pixels, which would be better. Using the 300 pixels per inch setting would also work. Using a 600 pixels per inch setting would make a picture that is far bigger than needed. However, if you have a picture that is only 2 inches wide, you would want to use the 600 pixels per inch setting, as that would produce a picture that is 1200 pixels wide. Please call Loving Honors, Inc. if you have any questions. The size of the pictures you provide has a major impact on the quality of the video we can make. |
